The baby lock gathering foot takes all the hard work out of gathering. Set the overlocker stitch length to 4 and the differential feed to the percentage of required gathering eg 1.5 for 1/2 time the amount gathered.

The foot gathers the bottom layer and attaches to the top layer, which stays flat, all in one go.
